GOOD EATING HABITS, by MARU
First of all, in order for us to achieve good eating habits, we have to adhere to a regular eating schedule.
If, for example, today we have breakfast at 8 in the morning, tomorrow we have breakfast at 10 and the next day we decide not to have breakfast at all, then our brain does not know which pattern of behavior we are telling it to follow.
Of course, you know that what you eat is important, but when you eat can play a huge role in good digestive health. Scheduling when you eat may seem extreme, but the health benefits just might convince you to give it a shot.
According to Everyday Health, “consuming your meals and snacks on a regular schedule can help keep your digestive system in top shape”. When you don’t eat at consistent times each day, it can cause your stomach to overwork resulting in bloating and indigestion, but eating on a schedule “will allow proper digestion of your food, which will result in you having a good comfortable feeling in your stomach” (Healthy Eating).
Particularly I decided to have my breakfast at 10 in the morning, which is based mainly on cereals and fruits, no dairy except natural yogurt and sometimes almond or coconut milk. By noon, I can have a very delicious infusion or decaffeinated black coffee, preparing my body for my lunch.
Then, I try to eat my lunch by 2 PM, usually containing 1 serving of protein, 1 serving of carbohydrates, and 2 servings of vegetables. The size of each serving is up to you 😊. And for dessert I always include a fruit.
At 4:30 pm comes the snack. How about carrots or celery sticks with a delicious home-made hummus?
Now, for dinner, around 7 at night, we have several options. However, I chose to satisfy my appetite with a wonderful protein shake and some fruit. My favorite is a papaya protein shake, almond milk and a pinch of cinnamon powder.
Don’t forget to drink water every time you remember… I always forget it ☹!! And one last thing: give you permission to consume a square or two of dark chocolate 90 to 95% cocoa!
Enjoy your meal!
