DANMAR IN-PERSON CLASSES RULES & REGULATIONS

REGISTRATION POLICY
• DANMAR maintains a policy of non-discrimination regarding race, color, sex, creed, religion, national origin, sexual preferences, political preferences, and non-job-related disability.
• DANMAR is committed to a safe and civil educational environment for all students, instructors, parents/legal guardians, volunteers, and community members that is free from harassment, intimidation, or bullying.
• DANMAR is also committed to teaching core character values: self-discipline, self- esteem, respect, integrity, commitment, honesty, timeliness, strong work ethic, patience, teamwork, and love.
• DANMAR will use its best efforts to assist, serve as a facilitator, guide, and support the student in obtaining his or her maximum knowledge in the dance through quality instructional practices.
• Students are committed to practicing what they have learned in class and follow the quality instructional guides before every class.
• DANMAR is committed to providing adequate and safe facilities, professional staff, and a regular dance class schedule.
• Registration is based on first come first served. DANMAR offers Registration On-line. No walk-ins are accepted. Students must register in advance.
• Classes are closed when capacity is reached.
• There is no Registration fee. However advance payment is mandatory.
• DANMAR reserves the right to cancel classes with an enrollment of less than 6 students.
• DANMAR will close activities at least 1 month per year.
• Make-up classes are not offered.
• Dance classes follow the KISD school schedule: There will be no classes during KISD holidays.

PAYMENT POLICY
• Monthly fee payments are based on four (4) weeks. Monthly fees are the same whether there are three weeks or five weeks in a month.
• Tuition is due on the 1st (first) day of the month. DANMAR, as a courtesy, allows you to pay until the 5th of each month.
• Full tuition is due every month regardless of attendance and/or holidays.
• Family packages available- email us for more information.
• DANMAR offers different options for payment.
1. Monthly payments through Zelle.
o DANMAR Zelle account is [email protected]
o A $25.00 late fee will be charged for payments received after the 5th day of
the month.
o Holidays or a student absence from class does not waive the late fee. o Students with overdue accounts will not be admitted to class.
2. Monthly direct payment through DANMAR (square).
o DANMAR will charge your debit/credit card directly on the first day of the month. This payment is subject to the statutorily authorized convenience fee of 2.5% of total fees + managing fee of 0.5%.

REFUND POLICY
• Monthly Class Payment, Recital Fee & Costume Fee are non-refundable. RULES
• Only registered students are allowed inside the theater.
• Parents of students or students must let DANMAR know of any medical conditions they may have. This information is confidential.
• Students must use the restroom before class. Short breaks during class could be given at the instructor’s discretion for hydration.
• No visitors allowed. No parents, family or friends allowed during class time.
• Parents will drop off the minor students at the door 5 minutes prior to class starting. When the class is over, the instructor will take the minor students out to the door for the
parents to pick them up.
• No pictures or video recording of any kind are allowed during classes.
• No transfer of classes allowed unless authorized by director.
• No food/drinks permitted in the carpeted area of the theater (except for water).
• Phones off or in vibrate mode.
• A wood piece of 2’x2’x1/2” shall be brought by students 8 years old and up for classes to stump on.
• DANMAR is not responsible for loss of or damage to personal property.
• DANMAR reserves the right to ban any student from entering class or to remove any student from class due to disorderly conduct and/or disruptive behavior or for any other reason determined by Instructor as unsuitable behavior.
• Waiver: DANMAR directors, instructors, staff, volunteers and otherwise are not liable for any injuries sustained while in class, rehearsal, show, or on the premises.
• In some cases, it is required that the instructor comes in physical contact with the student to comply with dance technique.
• DANMAR uses photos and/or videos of the classes, events, performances, students and staff for promotional use.
• DANMAR is not responsible if a student under 16 years old leaves the theater premises by his/herself.
• Parents are not allowed inside the dance rooms or theater. It is distracting to our dancers.
• Student’s cell phone should be silent or off and in a dancer’s bag.

DRESS CODE
• To be admitted to flamenco class, all students must wear DANMAR required attire.
• Long solid black leggings (Under the skirt).
• Long solid black flamenco skirt.
• Solid black tank top or leotard.
• Black flamenco shoes or closed toe shoes (only for children’s classes).
• Hair up and away from face.
• Hair flower (any color)

• Hair should be pulled back away from face and secure neatly; long hair should be put into a bun or ponytail depending on the class requirements. Students with short hair should use a headband.
• Students may be asked to sit out of class if their hair is not pulled back. CLASS ETIQUETTE
• Food, drinks and chewing gum are not permitted in the carpeted area (except for water).
• Phones off or in vibrate mode.
• Dispose of trash in proper receptacle.
• No loud unruly noise inside the classroom or in the theater lobby and hallways.
• Talking during class is not appreciated unless a question concerning dance is being asked.
• Parents should come to pick up students on time. DANMAR will close 10 minutes after the last class is finished.
• If there is an issue the parents would like to discuss, please do not have a discussion in front of the other parents or visitors. DANMAR personnel will be happy to discuss any
concerns you have in private.

ATTENDANCE
• All students are expected to attend every class scheduled for their class level.
• Excessive absences may delay the promotion of a student.
• Each student is also required to arrive on time to their class. No one may enter class 10 minutes after a class has started.

WEATHER POLICY
• Classes are occasionally canceled because of extreme weather conditions. OBSERVATION OF CLASSES
• Students are not expected to observe classes unless sick and with instructor’s authorization.
• Parents are occasionally allowed to observe their children’s classes only by director’s invitation.

RECITALS
• DANMAR usually presents 2 Recitals per year, one in June and one in December. Show date, place and other important information will be released as soon as it becomes available. General Rehearsals are mandatory. Recitals are not mandatory.
• Recital Registration Fee, and Costume Fee are not refundable.
• Recital participants are not purchasing tickets with the Recital Registration Fee. DANMAR, as a courtesy, has given out some tickets to each participant and cannot be sold, exchanged, or upgraded.
• Parents, friends, or family members are not allowed during rehearsals.
• Recital Commitment Letter is part of these Rules and Regulations.
• DANMAR also offers many performance activities throughout the year.

DANMAR HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY

GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS
• The health and safety of our dance students, instructors, administrators, parents/legal guardians, volunteers, and community members remain our first and foremost priority.
• Dance is a physically demanding activity which offers a wide range of physical and mental benefits. However, the range of body movements, repetition, speed of movement and time dedicated to learning and rehearse can put you at risk of an injury.
• Despite taking the utmost care and attention to our dance students’ safety, accidents sometimes happen.
• This policy endorses efforts which ensure the quality of safety and health by emphasizing incident and accident prevention and the control of risks in the dance studio.
• DANMAR ensures that all dance students are provided with clear instruction, as well as safety and health responsibilities.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS
• DANMAR is committed to providing adequate and safe facilities, including but not limited to:
o An appropriate room environment to avoid any injury to the students.
o DANMAR offers a space of a suitable size.
o For the performer’s safety during a recital, the use of flash photography is
prohibited.

PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS
• An injured dance student may not dance fully in class without a doctor’s note clearing them for dance specific activity.
• Parents of students or students must let DANMAR know of any medical conditions they may have.
• If a prospective dance student has a pre-existing problem or injury especially to the foot, ankle, knee, lower back, or shoulder should consult a doctor or physiotherapist before starting to take dance lessons.
• A dance student should have a basic awareness of his/her own body and personal limits as well as:
o Warm up thoroughly before starting dancing.
o Cool down after a dance session. Drink plenty of water before, during and after dancing.
o Concentrate on correct posture, dance technique, and follow dance teacher recommendations to avoid accidents.
• If you are not sure you’ll comply with all the requirements mentioned above to participate in DANMAR regular classes, rehearsals and/or recitals, please do not commit.

PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS
• DANMAR is committed to reinforce the fact that physical and mental states of health are inter-dependent on one another.
• DANMAR will use its best efforts to assist, serve as a facilitator, guide, and support the student in obtaining his or her maximum knowledge in the dance through quality and safe instructional practices.
• DANMAR encourages dance students to learn and understand dance concepts and content to take it into consideration when rehearsing or dancing a choreography.
• DANMAR fosters mutually respectful relationships between dance students and dance instructors.
• DANMAR will use clear communication to ensure instruction and feedback is framed positively and appropriately.
• DANMAR emphasizes effort, progress, ability, and talent, accepting the value of learning from mistakes and avoiding comparison with others.
• DANMAR promotes positive attitudes between dance students and other dancers.

LIABILITY WAIVER

As lawful consideration for being permitted by DANMAR to participate in dance activities I, the undersigned, on behalf of myself and all persons and entities claiming by, through or under me, acknowledge the inherent risks involved when dancing in class, rehearsal or recital offered at or through DANMAR.

• If I am over 45 years old, I understand that it is my responsibility to consult with a physician prior to and regarding my participation in the dance programs offered by DANMAR. I represent and warrant that I have no medical condition that would prevent my participation in the dance programs.
• I acknowledge and fully understand that I will be engaging in activities that involve risk of injury which may include disability and even social and economic losses which might result not only from my actions, but also from the action of others, and further that there may be risks not known to me or not reasonably foreseeable. I expressly assume and accept all risk of injury or damage, included but not limited to heart attacks, muscle strains, muscle pulls, muscle tears, broken bones, shin splints, or any other illness or soreness, which may occur in connection with my participation in activities offered by DANMAR.
• If I participate in any activity at DANMAR while pregnant, I acknowledge that I have read and understand the following information:
o I understand that assessing the risk of physical activity in pregnancy is difficult and there are risks which may result in harm or even death to me or my unborn child.
o if I am pregnant, become pregnant, or I am post-natal or post-surgical, I verified that I have my physician’s approval to participate. I understand that I would not be allowed to participate in programs if participation were against my physicians’ orders.
o I understand that there may be additional risks that are unknown and foreseeable at this time.
• I acknowledge that my participation in DANMAR programs includes possible exposure to an illness from infectious diseases including but not limited to MRSA, influenza, and COVID-19. While particular rules and personal discipline may reduce this risk, the risk of serious illness does exist.
